Notes: 

  • The Carter's were from the following counties: Barrow, Hall, Jackson,  Oglethorpe and Walton Co, Georgia. 
  • Jessie Carter (1892 - 1970) married John Norman Cicero Gaddis (1886 - 1954). They had a son named George Dewey Gaddis that married Cora Faye Wilson Carter's sister, Lula Nell Wilson. 
  • Joseph "Joe" Harrison Carter and Ella resided in Winder, Barrow  Co, GA in 1930 and in Jackson Co, GA in 1920.  They lived in Walton Co, Georgia in their latter years. 
  • Clarence H. Carter m. Estelle S.(Unknown) and they had Thelma and Annie M. Carter in 1930 Census for Walton Co, GA.  Brother, Ed,  but he was called Carl in the census and wife Faye lived with them at that time. 
  • Clarence, Estell, Lena, Mattie Jo, Jose and Ella are all buried at Westlawn Memorial Ceme., Monroe, Walton Co, GA. 
  • Lena B. Carter and brother Clarence lived in Monroe, Walton Co, Georgia. Lena never married nor had children. They are buried at Westlawn Ceme., Monroe, Walton Co, GA.
  • Mattie Jo Carter  b. 1916 - 1998  m. Jose "Joe" M. Ferreiro b. 1906 - 1986. Joe was an immigrant of Spain from New York. He was smuggled into the US in a duffle bag. There was a war in Spain at the time.  He later became a US Citizen. They both are buried at Westlawn Memorial Cemetery in Monroe, GA. 
  • John R. Carter is buried in New Bethel Methodist Ch. Ceme., Between Walton Co, GA along with his father, Joseph "Joe" Carter. I was told they had many relations in that area. 
  • Ed and Faye are buried at Carter Hill Cemetery, Winder, Barrow Co, Georgia along with sons Bobby and Thomas. 
  • Ed & Faye bore five children. They have 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
  • Ed Carter was retired from Rohr Aircraft, Winder, Barrow Co, GA. He sharpened knives, saw  and lawnmower blades in his later years out of his own shop.
  • Faye Carter had Alzheimer's. She was called "Nanny" by her family. 
  • Ed & Faye Carter had attended Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Winder, Barrow Co, GA. 
  • William Thomas Carter m. 28 Nov 1812 to Holly Carter d/o John A. Carter & Polly Stevens
  • Thomas Carter m. Elizabeth Doggett  and he was a  brother of John A. Carter, their father was Thomas Carter m. Mary Kilpatrick from Virginia.

 

Special Thanks & Notes:

  • I  learned that George W. Carter [1826 - 1863] m. 24 Dec. 1844 to Lucy Ann Carter;  is not our George Carter.  Their children were  Robert Lesley, Wm. Thos., James Alexander, Mary Elizabeth and Georgia A. (dau). This George lived near Broadnax's Mill not far from Between, GA. He also was in the Civil War. Notes from Jim Gilreath dated September 21, 2003 & June 2004.

  • Obediah George Washington m. Amanda Merk were found in Jackson Co, GA where Jesse Carter and family were found as well. I am not positive if there is a connection. What do you think?
